Avon Park, Florida

Last week, we made the quick and unexpected decision to drive sixteen hours to see some special friends.  These are the kind of friends that drive all night to be at the hospital when you have your first child.

Our friend, Mike, has been fighting a brain tumor since 2004, and his family has stood strong beside him through all of the ups and downs.

We wanted to be able to go down and spend some time with them, help out in any way possible, play together, cry together,

and we felt like God bringing us back for Sarah's medical needs now also gave us the opportunity to make the zippy trip down to Florida, our old stompin' grounds.

My sweet friend, Joy, has the best attitude.  Humor has played a large part through the medical journey, and there was laughter in the house as Joy and Mike tried to communicate around the things the tumor has stolen.

They've seen the end coming for a long time, and they've taken every opportunity to enjoy little things.  Their love for each other still shines.

I found my appreciation for everything growing during our visit.  My husband, my kids, strawberries, cell phones, even the ability to be in the country and make this trip in God's perfect timing.

We love you guys and we are praying God's abundant strength and wisdom to shower down on you.

Oh, how we love this post - because there are so many people we love in this post. Joanna, your words are beautiful. Joy, Mike and family, it is so good to "see" you. It's been too long since we've talked or truly seen each other. We love you guys and pray for and with you often.
All our love,

Jason and Kayla (aka Jayla)
